Distributed Leadership in Hybrid Work Arrangements: A Mixed-Methods Study

Abstract

Combining 18 in-depth interviews with a survey of 310 employees, this study examines how leadership is distributed among team members in hybrid work arrangements that became permanent after the pandemic. Distributed leadership was positively related to engagement, but the effect weakened when role ambiguity was high.
